Virgin Media’s Path Forward: Sustainable Living
Virgin Media Television is running a week-long campaign across Virgin Media One to help change the way we think about sustainable living. It forms part of Virgin Media’s Corporate Responsibility Manifesto of ‘Connections for Good’ which aims to create meaningful connections for the benefit of our customers, viewers and the communities we serve.
Ireland AM weatherman Deric Hartigan will be on the Hard Shoulder at approximately 5:30pm this evening to discuss this initiative. This morning Deric headed to the seaside to meet inspiring teenage environmental activist Flossie Donnelly. Flossie organises regular beach clean-ups and is passionate about ridding our shores of plastic waste and reducing pollution. We also heard from Aine Purcell Milton of Clean Coasts on why everyone needs to respect the environment and the benefits of doing a two-minute litter pick-up when out walking in your 5km. Stylist Lorna Weightman turned her attention to our wardrobe staples of leggings, jumpers and jackets and gives us inspiration on how to rewear some of our most-loved clothes.
Meanwhile, on The Six O’Clock Show, Irish Times’ Consumer Affairs Correspondent and Pricewatch Editor, Conor Pope will present some practical tips on how to go green and save money in the transition.
Anna Maria Barry, head of public relations at Virgin Media said: “Our Connections for Good campaign champions and supports programmes through strategic partnerships that bring about positive change in communities across Ireland. I’m incredibly proud that Virgin Media Television occupies a unique place in Irish broadcasting. Sustainable living matters to viewers and working with subject matter experts gives it purpose with meaningful scale, awareness and impact.
Virgin Media’s sustainability action programme is part of a bigger climate action programme in which Virgin Media has committed to achieving the Low Carbon Pledge with Business in the Community Ireland. On the 24th of March we will be signing the newer and more ambitious Low Carbon Pledge. For more information https://www.virginmedia.ie/connections-for-good/
