Virgin Media marks Safer Internet Day 2021 with special guests on Ireland AM and The Six O’ Clock Show
Safer Internet Day takes place on Tuesday 9th February
Tuesday, February 9th: Virgin Media has announced a special line-up of guests across Ireland AM and The Six O’Clock Show this Tuesday, February 9th to celebrate Safer Internet Day.
Safer Internet Day encourages everyone – children and young people, parents and carers, teachers, educators and social workers, Industry, decision makers and politicians – to work together for a better internet. The day is celebrated in over 170 countries worldwide and is promoted and coordinated in Ireland by Webwise; the Irish Internet Safety Awareness Centre.
We kicked off the day with cyber-psychologist Nicola Fox-Hamilton joining Ireland AM to chat about the best ways to have a positive online experience. Nicola focused on steps we can all take to manage our online wellbeing as we all spend more time online.
Also, on Ireland AM, Webwise Youth Panel members Ben Holmes and Jane Smith talked about the fantastic work Webwise is doing to help schools manage internet safety. Ben and Jane also shared tips on how they manage their own online wellbeing, and chat about their experiences online.
Over on The Six O’Clock Show, Former Dublin GAA star Eamon Fennell will round off the day by reflecting on the role technology has played in his life this year.
Virgin Media has been working with our Irish Safer Internet Centre partners – Webwise, Hotline.ie and the National Parents Council Primary – to promote SID, this year’s campaign of #BeKindOnline and encourage everyone to look after their online wellbeing.
