So, 2020 hasn’t exactly played out as planned. While Liverpool’s Premier League triumph was sealed weeks ago, there’s still loads to play for as the season comes to a close. Watford’s game against Manchester City (Tuesday, 6pm) could make or break their survival hopes, while West Ham’s visit to Manchester United (Wednesday, 6pm) will have an impact on both ends of the table! The return of northern hemisphere rugby is still a little while away – but our pals in Australia and New Zealand are already going great guns! THE COURSE, OF COURSE!
They might be without fans, but the great and good of the golfing world will be out in force in Minnesota, as they tee up to the 3M Open (Thursday-Sunday, Sky Sports Golf, Virgin TV 404). The likes of Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson are amongst the biggest names in the field, though it’s the newly beefed-up Bryson DeChambeau who’s got everyone talking of late. With the majors just around the corner, things are hotting up!
ON TARGET
Though it’s probably the most fan-tastic sport on the planet, the titans of tungsten will have an empty house for the World Matchplay (nightly, Sky Sports Action, Virgin TV 403) – but don’t think that means you’ll be in for a quiet night! A bit of handy tech will bring extra life to proceedings, but it’s the showdowns on the oche that will really get things going! Defending champ Rob Cross isn’t amongst the favourites – Peter Wright, Gerwyn Price and the indomitable Michael van Gerwen amongst the bookies’ tips – but the unusual atmosphere and disrupted schedule could well throw up some shocks!

If you believe the sound of leather on willow is the sound of the summer, then there’s nothing like Test cricket to say the season’s officially started! England host the West Indies in the third tie of their series (beginning Friday, 11am, Sky Sports Cricket, Virgin TV 402), with the early action in the tight-fought series demonstrating the best of what both sides have to offer. England’s selections have come in for questions – not least when it comes to their pace attack – so expect some heated clashes off the field as well as on!
