Virgin Media Business Unveils Virgin WiFi for businesses in Ireland

Virgin Media’s network carries over 50% of all public WiFi traffic

 

Virgin Media Business unveils Virgin WiFi, offering businesses nationwide a WiFi network with the fastest WiFi speeds for both customers and employees. 

 

Paul Farrell, Vice President of Commercial at Virgin Media Business, said “Virgin Media’s network currently carries over 50% of all public WiFi traffic - that's around 2.5 million user sessions per month. Digital technologies are part of our everyday lives with the digital economy worth about 6% of Ireland’s GDP, online spending by Irish consumers set to double in value in the next five years and the view that by 2020 we will be spending 24 hour a week watching content online*. Such trends are causing the demand for WiFi to grow exponentially and Virgin WiFi has been designed to enable businesses meet the needs of their customers, guests and employees.”

Virgin WiFi was unveiled at the Irish Maritime Festival in Drogheda, sponsored by Virgin Media, with free Virgin WiFi available to all those attending the two day festival.

 

Virgin Media are introducing their award winning services to more homes and businesses across Ireland through their network investment programme. Towns including Drogheda, Dundalk, Ballina, Enniscorthy, Gorey, Tullamore, Kildare and Greystones have recently benefited from the delivery of a fibre rich network for businesses in the region.  As part of this investment, free Public WiFi has been installed in towns boosting the local economy and benefiting consumers, SMEs and entrepreneurs.

 

Virgin Media were this year named as Ireland’s fastest broadband network by consumers through the independent network assessment firm Ookla, while Cartesian also named Virgin Media as having the best performing WiFi in Ireland.

 

“Our WiFi is distributed and managed by Virgin Media Business across our award winning next generation broadband network. In addition to the WiFi network, it offers businesses cloud-based controls, marketing tools and other advanced analytical tools to allow users access their account, top up, view or edit WiFi subscriptions and hotspot managers to vouchers online.
